The kids are alright!.......but the parents though🤦🏾‍♂️

Updated: Mar 30, 2020

I've been taking some time off #linkedin for a bit, as life catches up with deadlines and all that good stuff. But dear lord🤦🏾‍♂️, I didn't know that my biggest pet peeve as an infosec professional had a name. #Sharenting.

This is when a parent or parents decide it's a good idea to share every single thing about their kids online....WHY???

👉92% of kids have a digital footprint before the age of 2!!

👉Most kids have over 1,000 photos of themselves posted #online before they turn 13!!

👉But wait; there's more! With the use of smart toys, and devices, school apps, smart speakers, child monitoring devices more and more of their data is being stocked online in unsafe cloud environments.

👉These practices can make your child highly susceptible to fraud, destroy their education and job prospects, or even mortgage payments and credit scores!!

I mean its common sense! With the photographic capabilities of phones today, facial recognition software is having a field day with our pictures online. These are PII (Personally Identifiable Information) that are being put online.

You have parents sending their kids DNA to these online sites opening up a whole new can of worms. The moment your DNA profile get digitised I believe that is game over and your privacy is more or less tossed out the window.

If we want to have fun, it'sdigitized your problem but please let us stop dragging our kids future through the mud due to ignorance.

It's time adults start behaving like adults, and not mess up your kid's future.

Check out the links below if you need more convincing.
